Best Labor Day Ever & More New Posts to Come!

I probably had my best Labor Day ever. Usually I just stay at home and chill, but I got to go out with my parents and siblings this time. First we went to BJ’s for some eats, and then went to the movie’s to see Ant-Man. I didn’t have any expectations (good or bad) for it, but I absolutely loved it.

It had a lot of heart, and plenty of good humor that added a lot to the film. Another thing I enjoyed about it was how different Ant-Man was compared to other superhero movies when it came to his abilities. His ability to shrink down to such a small size,  go back to normal instantaneously, and control ants was very amusing as well as unique compared to other more well know heroes.

If you’re on the fence about seeing it, I’d say give it a shot. You might be surprised, and I highly recommend watching the movie. I definitely hope to see more of Ant-Man in the future whether in cameos in other MCU movies, and in hopefully sequels to the first film.

And after all of that, my dad took us all to Braum’s for some sweet treats to enjoy on the way back home. I got this caramel brownie sundae, and it was totally awesome. If you’re ever in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, or Missouri and want some ice cream they’re totally worth checking out. They also sell burgers, and plenty of other things as well.

So, it was a wonderful labor day, and I’m very thankful to be able to enjoy a great time with my family. But that’s not all! Including this post, I’m going to be making more entries this week. I plan to share one photo, since I haven’t done that in awhile. I got this great one I uploaded to Flickr last week that I took awhile back. I like it a lot!

There’s also two poems I plan to share. One was a poem I started a good while back, and was finally able to finish! The second I wrote for a really close Tumblr friend, who’s birthday is this coming Friday.

So, there’s more coming soon to my blog to look forward to! I hope my wonderful followers will enjoy that, and you’ll be hearing more from me soon. Wishing you a good night and day wherever you might be my dear friends!

The Rain

So, in a previous post I mentioned rain, well that was some night! I don’t know what it is about this summer, but it’s been the wettest in North Texas that I can ever remember. Usually by August the grass has faded and died, but this year it’s as green as can be. June, July, and now in August we’ve gotten plenty of rain.

Now, that Wednesday night, into early Thursday morning was something else. My dad was out of town, and my mom was at work so it was just my sisters and I at home. It started out very innocently, with just some light thunder. Nothing to get concerned about, right? No! There was thunder and lightning all over the place, and very intense rain.

The rain got so bad, that it started to come inside from the back door that leads to the backyard. Initially I put paper towels to soak it up, but then Kelly suggested I put bath towels under the door. So, I did that, but there was more. The power briefly went out, as the breaker must have tripped. Some of the rooms still had power, but my parents room, Kelly’s room, and part of the kitchen were dead. I kept trying to remember what my dad said to do in a situation like this, but I couldn’t remember what to do except what he said about the test and reset buttons. That helped with the kitchen, but I knew I was going to have to mess with the circuit breaker in order to restore power to the other rooms.

I wanted to look on the internet for help, but it was out for awhile so I couldn’t really do much about it. Eventually the internet did return (Thankfully!) and I was able to restore power to both rooms. I felt so happy, and proud of myself! ^_^b

As I had previously mentioned, my mom was at work, and it took her forever to get home. It just wasn’t safe enough for her to be able to make it. You see, behind our house in the field beyond our fence is a little creek. Usually it’s so low, you can’t even see it unless you’re close to it. But when we get a ton of rain it can transform into a river! Everything would be okay, if it wasn’t for the fact that the creek extends all the way to the road that leads to our subdivision. When the creek get high enough it flows over the road, and is not safe to pass. So that night, my mother didn’t get home till nearly six a.m. in the morning!

It was one crazy night, I tell you. Thankfully, everyone was alright, but it’s a night I won’t soon forget. And that’s that Kelly and my mother had to go out the following day. Kelly got to sleep earlier, but for my mom it was rough. And then that Friday, the rest of my family was going on vacation. So, they were really going to be running on fumes, to say the least. That last part about the vacation ties into something nice that happened to me, but I’ll save that for another entry! ^_-

Just wanted to say…

Just wanted to say that I deleted my Blogger blog. I thought it’d work out, but it was pretty dead for the most part. Tons of ex-Xangans are on WordPress, and the community seems more robust.

I think in about a month’s time, that I’ve already got more attention on WordPress, than I did in the first month of my Blogger blog. Needless to say, I only want one traditional blog, and WordPress is the one for me. WordPress has impressed me a lot, and I hope to be here for awhile.

A good night and day to everyone, and hopefully a good weekend too! 😉

Another Poem

Besides the epic lengthened poem I mentioned yesterday, I also wrote another new poem on Saturday. It’s much shorter, and is very hopeful in its theme. It’s about the power of belief, and how it can help us achieve amazing things. I’ll probably share it soon, so be on the lookout for it! 🙂

Something to look forward to!

I’m working on a new poem, and I plan to post it on here. It’s going to be kinda different from the poems I’ve written recently. It won’t be totally bleak, but it won’t be all happy either. The main theme is love; the longing for it, the receiving of it, the loss of it, and what happens afterwards.

Another difference is, it’ll probably be a multiple part epic. I’ve had fun writing the first part which is complete already. I would like to wait until it’s complete, but if I get restless I might share part I before it’s done. Look forward to it, and I hope Saturday is treating my fellow blogging friends well!
